Welcome to Severnside Sirens Trust
What are the Severnside Sirens?
The Severnside Sirens warn people of possible incidents involving dangerous substances.
The Severnside Sirens warn people of possible incidents involving dangerous substances in the Severnside Area – this includes Avonmouth and the Redcliffe Bay area of Portishead. It is a system of 12 sirens activated by Avon and Somerset Police; sirens do not sound independently of each other, if activated, all 12 sirens will sound at the same time, no matter the location of the incident.
The Severnside Siren System is maintained by the Severnside Sirens Trust which is an independent charitable organisation.
What should you do if you hear the Severnside Sirens?
A Major Accident Safety Advice booklet is produced every three years and delivered to properties within the audible range of all 12 sirens. A copy is available to download; residents and businesses are advised to keep the booklet safe and accessible in an emergency.
